Consignment Information
Consignment Saddle Policy
Condition
- All saddles must be clean, and in good condition or better.
- Saddles must not have any rips or tears in the leather or any loose structural stitching.
- Billets must be safe and not overly worn.
- Trees must be sound and balanced.
- Fittings are not accepted with saddles (but can be sold through non-saddle consignment).
- Strafford Saddlery reserves the right to refuse any saddle that fails to meet these criteria or is deemed unlikely to sell.
Pricing
Strafford Saddlery works with each consignor to determine the best price for their saddle. Price recommendations are determined by market research based on the style, model and condition of the saddle. We will work to find a price that is realistic based upon our experience, sales history and current market conditions.
Strafford Saddlery will negotiate on behalf of the Consignor to get the best price possible. We reserve the right to accept an offer within 10% of asking price. If we do not hear back from you within 5 days of an offer, we reserve the right to accept an offer of fair market value.
Commission
For all saddles sold, the commission charged is 25% of the selling price. For saddles sold for $500 or less, the seller has the option of taking their payment in consignment credit with the commission charged at 20% of the selling price. Checks for the final selling price, less the appropriate commission, will be mailed out approximately 14 days after the final sale date.
Limitations
Saddles that are not sold within 1 year of intake may be returned to the consignor. If we are unable to reach you at that time, Strafford Saddlery reserves the right to donate the saddle to a local charitable organization.
Disclaimer
Consignor agrees that consigned items may be removed from the store for trial purposes and that some wear and tear may result. Consignor agrees that Strafford Saddlery will not be responsible for the loss of or damage to the items while on consignment with Strafford Saddlery, whether in the store or out on trial with prospective buyers.

- Strafford Saddlery reserves the right to refuse any item that fails to meet these criteria or is - for any reason - deemed unlikely to sell.
